Very Special Arts (VSA)

A cooperation between the Kuwait Society for the Handicapped and VSA State Organization for Arts and Disability started in the year 1994 when the Society became its affiliate representing the State of Kuwait in the Organization. The Society’s students started participating in the VSA pogrammes and activities under the name of “Kuwait Society for the Handicapped – VSA arts of Kuwait” and Mrs. Munira Khaled Al-Mutawa, Chair of the Society is an Executive Director of VSA arts of Kuwait.

The VSA offers educational exchange programs in various fields like visual arts, music, dancing, drama and creative writing. Those programs and activities have been carried out through a network of members from all parts of the USA in addition to (70) countries worldwide.

The KSH students participated in most of the programs, projects and activities of the VSA Organization such as World Bank Exhibition, “Children Beyond Borders” Exhibition, ArtLink and MusicLink Program, International VSA arts festivals in the US, Japan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Egypt. Not only the students from the Society participate in them but also other students from various governmental and private institutions that provide care for persons with disabilities as the Society invites them to participate. Some of our students were granted certificates of appreciation for their art works.
